We celebrated our 10th Anniversary.

and members of the home's governing body. Acting host was Mr. Dries Niemandt, former mayor of Kempton Park, whose
involvement in the home started at its inception in 1973.
An anonymous donor opened his heart to us by donating R 100,000 towards our "Heike Hall", which is used as a stimulation/activity room.
We received a brand new V W Micro Bus, courtesy of the Eastern Nomads golf committee.
The handing over ceremony at Benoni Country Club was the culmination of many months of hard work
by the committee, headed by Vice-chairman Alan Harris.
Each year a welfare organization is chosen and a charity drive is held under the auspices,
of the Nomads National André Mentis Endowment Fund. For 1998 Casa Caritas was the main beneficiary.
Corné Booyens, National Project Manager of the Fuchs Foundation hands over a cheque for R200,000 to
Ms Joan Muller Chairperson of the governing body.
This donation enabled us to complete the new bedroom wing, which boasts eight single bedrooms and one large room.
The celebration was held at the home in the 'Heike Hall' and was attended by donors, parents of our residents,
and members of the home's governing body. Mr. Riaan Cruywagen was the Master of ceremonies, Mr. Franna Benadé

Saw the opening of the new wing at the home, which consists of eight single bedrooms and one
large bedroom at an approx. cost of R 335,000 which was made possible by a R 200,000 donation from the Carl and
Emily Fuchs Foundation. The rest of the money was obtained from other donors. Work on the building commenced in
November 2000 and was completed in May 2001.

Our sincere thanks to all the people who made this a huge success, the sponsors, cyclists and the hundreds of people on route for their donations and support, which raised R 80,000 on behalf of Casa Caritas.
SEPTEMBER
"Casual Day" is an annual event that takes place country wide. The aim of casual day is to raise
funds for various welfare organizations. The spirit behind the day is that the people who have purchased
a 'Casual Day' sticker should dress not only casually but also in 'fun' outfits such as pyjamas.
This year's casual day event netted us an amount of ± R 14,000.
OCTOBER
"Klipwerf" dance - 12 October 2002. This event, which is also our main annual fund
raising occasion, took place this year at the Kempton Park Civic Centre.
The "Klipwerf Dance Band" was sponsored by W A Surveyors for the second consecutive
year and provided a popular mix of music that was enthusiastically enjoyed well into the "wee"
hours of the morning by all present.
The success of the event can be measured by the fact that it raised an amount in excess of R 47,000.
We intend, with the help of our various supporters, to make next year's dance an even bigger success.
The evening happenings were filmed and later shown in the program "Geraas" on TV2.
